Rainbows, smiles and laughter filled the Lake Country Art Gallery on April 28 when Freida Whales graced the gallery with her presence for an interactive family-oriented story time.

Children were able to sing, read and paint with Whales as they celebrated diversity and the joy of literature together.

In addition to the story reading, there was an art table where folks could create colourful fun pieces to dress up brown paper sandwich bags.

Outside of the gallery, people lined the street with rainbow flags and bubbles, while dancing to music.

“The support we received from the Queer community was both encouraging and so heart warming in creating a safe space for everyone,” stated the gallery.

Whales is an animated story teller that has been bringing silly songs and a passion for reading to libraries and galleries across the province for the past six years.

The gallery added it will be having more events with the fabulous Queen and storyteller Whales in the future.
