The first annual Regional Parks Expo took place at George Elliot Secondary School and the Creekside Theatre in Lake Country this Saturday, May 27.
Put on by the Regional District of Central Okanagan (RDCO), the event featured more than 20 vendors and presentations in the theatre to teach the public about local parks, volunteer opportunities and wildlife safety and concerns.
The presentations went on through the day, discussing a variety of topics including: connecting with the Syilx lands, wild creatures in the Okanagan, invasive plants, bats, and how to make the outdoorsy lifestyle accessible to everyone.
The Okanagan Similkameen Stewardship Society had Nora at their booth, which is a gopher snake that is five feet, six inches long. The Sncewips Heritage Museum, Cabin Resource Management, and UBC Okanagan were just a few of several companies that had booths at the event.
