After five years in downtown Kelowna, a restaurant known for it’s variety of cocktails is shutting it’s doors for good.

Open since Canada day 2018, Jack’s on Bernard era is coming on Jan. 1.

“Despite the hopes of remaining a staple in Kelowna’s food and beverage scene, the lack of government support for businesses affected by unforeseen events became the decisive factor,” said owner Casey Greabeiel. “Jack’s had a remarkable five-year run, but a series of challenges, culminating in the August fire, has led us to this difficult decision.”

Greabeiel added that over a four-week span due to the Grouse Complex of wildfires in August, the restaurant lost more than $100,000 in revenue.

Despite losing Jack’s, the restaurant’s entire team will be transitioning to roles with other restaurants under the Unconventional Hospitality Group umbrella, which includes Pretty Not Bad, Salt & Brick, and Diner Deluxe.

“While bidding farewell to Jack’s was a tough decision, we are excited about consolidating our efforts and resources into our other projects,” said Greabeiel.

Jack’s on Bernard will have one final celebration on New Year’s Eve at 5 p.m. Jack’s final hurrah will have people dancing late into the night.

“Jack’s holds a special place in my heart, and I’m immensely proud of what we’ve achieved.”
