The Central Okanagan Crime Stoppers website was compromised in January.

The Regional District Central Okanagan (RDCO) was informed of the incident on Jan. 29.

The site is hosted on behalf of Crime Stoppers by a third-party vendor.

A post on the RDCO website states the site has now been moved to an alternative platform and is safe to access.

“We are taking this matter very seriously. It is the RDCO’s priority to work with the vendor to determine if private information entered prior to moving to the alternative platform, was compromised.”

The post did not say how long the site may have been compromised and urges anyone with concerns about their use of the site to email communications@rdco.com.

The RDCO will provide updates as they become available during the investigation.

It’s not the first time the Crime Stoppers website has been compromised.

In March 2013 the Central Okanagan Crime Stoppers Society site was hacked by an organization in Morocco.
