It’s been a couple of busy nights in a row for Central Okanagan Search and Rescue (COSAR) teams.

Around dinner time on Wednesday, Feb. 14, the Kelowna RCMP asked COSAR for help in finding ‘a lost, cold and wet amateur geologist’ near Chute Lake.

With the help of an RCMP helicopter, the person was spotted and an officer was able to find the geologist. The two were able to walk back to the officer’s vehicle which was stuck on a close-by forest service road.

COSAR crews were on the way to help the officer get their vehicle unstuck, but the officer was able to on their own. The geologist was returned to his home in Kelowna.

“Everyone was back home by 9 p.m. to continue their Valentine’s Day,” said COSAR in a Facebook post.

The night before (Tuesday, Feb. 13), COSAR’s Winter Response team went to locate a missing sledder in the GrayStokes area.

After being on the north side of Mount Moore, the sledder was able to make it out on their own.

Wednesday night’s rescue was the second rescue in the Chute Road/Lake area in a week. On. Feb. 8, COSAR was asked by the Kelowna RCMP to attend at scene at Johns Family Nature Conservancy Regional Park on Chute Road.
