After 11 years, it’s time for a new mural on the retaining wall at the corner of Davidson Road and Bond Road in Lake Country.

The Lake Country Public Art Advisory Commission and Lake Country Garden Club are inviting local artists to submit designs centering around gardens, growing, and plants for the retaining mall.

Artists have until Apr. 1 to submit their designs for the 1,150-square-foot wall. Throughout the month, the Lake Country Public Art Advisory Commission and Lake Country Garden Club will work together to go through all the submissions and select what they think fits Lake Country the best.

When the artist is selected, they will be given $15,000 to exclusively help with the mural, including but not limited to, artist fees, design work, consultations, surface preparation, insurance, transportation, materials, supplies and tools, UV sealant, equipment purchases or rentals, and all other requirements for the project.

The mural is expected to be completed in May or June.

Submissions are to be dropped off or mailed to the Lake Country Municipal Hall located at 10150 Bottom Wood Lake Road or emailed to publicart@lakecountry.bc.ca. The deadline for submissions is Apr. 1 at 4 p.m.

The application form and additional information can be found on Lake Country’s website.
