Okanagan College’s (OC) teams brought their A-game to the Enactus Canada National Exposition in Toronto from May 14 to 16.
The OC teams presented two projects:
- Project Bee, aimed at protecting the fuzzy pollinators through education and habitat restoration;
- Unusually Good Food Co., is a project concerned with food waste by transforming discarded apples into products such as hard cider and gluten-free apple flour.
That project placed the team within the top six nationally.
The Enactus OC team was commended for their strong community ties, receiving the National Community Engagement Award.
Individual Enactus OC members also received recognition for their dedication and leadership.
Rebekah Dingwall was awarded a prestigious $2,500 bursary for entrepreneurial leadership.
“I am so proud of the impact our team has achieved this year and I look forward to seeing the team’s continued success and growth in the future.”
Danielle Walker, an Enactus OC alumna was honoured as the Enactus Canada Alumni of the Year.
“Being involved in Enactus Okanagan College was life-changing, my experiences shaped who I am today.”
Enactus OC claimed the Canadian National Championship in 2022 and placed among the top four at the Enactus World Cup.
“Enactus Canada ignites the potential of future leaders to drive positive social, environmental, and economic impact,” the organization’s website states.
