A Pomeranian was killed in Lake Country last month after it was attacked by two bull terriers.

The incident happened around 7:30 p.m. on March 8 near Lodge and Bottom Wood Lake roads, according to an RCMP release.

“All dogs were on leash however the owner of the bull terriers was unable to control his animals as they attacked the Pomeranian,” the release stated. “The owner of the Pomeranian attempted to protect her dog and was bit as well.”

Officers and the owners were able to separate the dogs and the Pomeranian was taken to a nearby vet office where it received emergency care, however, its injuries were too severe and it died.

The owner also received medical attention for her injuries.

On Mar. 13, Lake Country Bylaw officers and RCMP executed a warrant and seized the bull terriers.

The owner was issued tickets and needs to agree to several conditions to reclaim the dogs.
