UPDATE: Kelowna deck fire causes minimal damage

Crews responded to a fire on Manhattan Drive

UPDATE: May 12 at 9:30 a.m.

The fire that closed of Manhattan Drive in Kelowna the afternoon of May 11 did little damage.

Kelowna Fire Department Platoon Captain Corrie Lang said it appeared something ignited on the back deck of the home.

Lang said the fire is not being deemed suspicious.

One person was home at the time and attempted to put water on the fire before crews arrived.

UPDATE: 5:45 p.m.

The house fire has been extinguished.

A ladder appears to have been used to access a second story window of the home on Manhattan Drive.

Initial reports claim that the fire was electrical in nature. FortisBC is on scene.

Emergency crews are responding to what is believed to be a house fire on Manhattan Drive in Kelowna.

Police vehicles and fire trucks are stationed near the residence, which is located on 900 Block of Manhattan Drive.

The road is closed to vehicles but pedestrians are still able to walk through.

The fire was first reported at approximately 5 p.m. on May 11.
