UBC Okanagan’s Ibbetson player of the week for the 2nd time

The fourth-year also received the honour in early December

UBCO Heat’s Jaeli Ibbetson is the Canada West Conference Player of the Week for a second time this season.

On Friday, Feb. 9 in Manitoba, the fourth-year Kelowna native was one assist short of a women’s basketball program’s first-ever triple-double. She put up 17 points, 21 rebounds, and nine assists in a 95-83 win over the Bisons. Her double-double in the game was her 12th this season, leading the league.

Additionally, it was Ibbetson’s second game this year with 20 or more rebounds.

Not to be outdone in the contest, Ibbetson’s teammate Lauren Foullong tied a Canada West record with nine three-pointers in the game.

The following night, Ibbetson made history as she recorded the first triple-double in program history with 23 points, 13 rebounds, and 10 assists as well as three blocks in a dominant 86-64 win. It was the 12th triple-double in Canada West history.

Ibbetson and her team now preparing for the 2024 Canada West Women’s Basketball Championships, hosted by the University of Fraser Valley in Abbotsford starting on Feb. 21.
