West Kelowna Warriors even second-round playoff series with Salmon Arm

The West Kelowna Warriors have evened their Interior Conference Semi Final with the Salmon Arm Silverbacks.

Salmon Arm opened the scoring in game two on Saturday (Apr 20). Night at Royal LePage Place 25 seconds into the first period on a goal by Nathan Mackie.

The Warriors exploded for three goals in the second period from Jackson Kyrkostas (3), Jack Pridham (6), and Viggo Nordström. JJ Monteiro (2) got the Silverbacks within one before the period ended.

Pridham (7) put West Kelowna up 4-2 just over seven minutes into the third period, however, goals from Salmon Arm’s Cole Cooksey (5) and Monteiro (3) tied the game and forced overtime.

West Kelowna’s Carter Oakenfold got his first goal of the playoffs in the extra frame giving his team the 5-4 win.

Warriors goaltender Matthew DellaRusso turned aside 20 of 24 shots for his fourth win of the playoffs, and West Kelowna outshot the Silverbacks 42-24.

West Kelowna lost the first game of the series 6-1.

The series moves to Salmon Arm with Game 3 on Tuesday (Apr. 23) night.
