A dangerous repeat offender is back behind bars after being caught in a stolen vehicle on August 10.

Tyler Jack Newton, 32, was found in possession of a stolen GMC Sierra in the 1000 block of El Paso Road, before driving the vehicle to a business alongside a female passenger and being arrested without incident.

Newton was previously arrested in 2014 for the murder of Caesar Rosales. Newton stabbed Rosales in the neck with a knife at a transit stop in Kelowna on Oct. 30 of that year.

Newton is facing several charges, including possession of stolen property over $5,000 and failure to comply with probation.

The woman was also well known to police.

“These individuals have a long history of criminal activity in our community,” said Cst. Mike Della-Paolera. “Thanks to the great work of our officers they are back in custody and will appear before the courts with a list of recommended charges.”
