weatherTurn Down the Heat: This week in particular, but all the year through, businesses across Kelowna are turning down the heat to conserve energy. Donations of warm clothing are being collected at several Downtown Kelowna Association members.

sweater• A new six-storey hotel across Hwy. 97 from the Kelowna Airport will move a few steps ahead this evening as city council moves to change land use designations and rezoning of properties on Innovation Drive.

• Remembering Bobby Vee. He became a pop star in the 1960s after his first gig — filling in for Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens and J.P. “The Big Bopper” Richardson after their plane went down, killing them all. Vee died in a care home in Minnesota Monday.
