Good Morning Kelowna, for Tuesday Oct. 25, 2016

It's a rainy welcome for our new Capital News banner at the front of our building on Enterprise Way.

• The sun will break out by about 9 a.m. and give us temperatures up to 13 C. The evening should be lovely with lights winds pushing the clouds away.

weatherTurn Down the Heat: This week in particular, but all the year through, businesses across Kelowna are turning down the heat to conserve energy. Donations of warm clothing are being collected at several Downtown Kelowna Association members.

sweater• A new six-storey hotel across Hwy. 97 from the Kelowna Airport will move a few steps ahead this evening as city council moves to change land use designations and rezoning of properties on Innovation Drive.

• If you want some new ideas for your small business, Rogers Talks might fit the bill. In Vancouver Oct. 28, experts in various business and e-commerce fields will talk and give hands-on workshops. The theme this year is disruption and innovation.

• Remembering Bobby Vee. He became a pop star in the 1960s after his first gig — filling in for Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens and J.P. “The Big Bopper” Richardson after their plane went down, killing them all. Vee died in a care home in Minnesota Monday.
