Good morning Kelowna. Here’s your Top 5 for Jan. 20, 2017

The weather outside is less frightful and the US has a new president. All that and more in our Top 5.

Another beautiful view of Kelowna

It’s a big day in the USA. Did you catch any of Donald Trump’s inauguration? There will be lots to focus on and talk about in the days ahead.

1.) In the meantime, let’s talk about the weather. Did you put away your parka? It’s going to be a lot warmer in the week ahead. A lot more dreary, too. Today Environment Canada is calling for a 40 per cent chance of wet flurries changing to 40 per cent chance of rain showers this morning. The high temperature will be 6 C.

Maybe it’s time to pull out your happy lights.

2.) As both sides gear up for the anticipated public hearing on the proposed new visitors centre for downtown Kelowna next week, accusations of councillor conflict are once again being tossed around.

3.) Just two weeks after Loretta Louie’s story was featured in a Black Press paper, the 70-year-old homeless woman may have a permanent residence in sight.

4.) Over the last 86 years the Kelowna Capital News has served the Central Okanagan – and over the last 86 years it has printed a whole lot of papers. Check out our new feature.

5.) Hiking at night comes with its risks. Luckily this woman was able to get the help she needed in time.
