A woman has been arrested after a standoff with police on the morning of June 8.
Gunshots were heard in the 2800 block of Appaloosa Road around 5 a.m., said a witness, prompting Kelowna RCMP as well as the South East District Emergency Response Team (ERT) to head to the scene soon after.
Both Appaloosa Road and Arab Road were locked down, and nearby residents were told to stay in their homes, though Const. Mike Della-Paolera told Capital News that there was no concern for public safety.
The woman, who is known to police, appeared to be “distraught” said Della-Paolera, and was moving in and out of a garage on the large farm property.
It was when she came to a rest on some steps that officers used a tactical armoured vehicle to move in and make an arrest around 10 a.m.
She faces several firearms-related charges.
“This was a dynamic and fluid situation which quickly came to a successful conclusion thanks to the officers involved,” said Della-Paolera.
