A Kelowna man pleaded guilty to a series of charges relating to two high-profile summertime assaults and is set to be sentenced in the new year.

Derrick Antoine, 29,  admitted he used a machete to attack a 22-year-old man Aug. 8, in Ben Lee Park as well as stabbng a woman in the back with a knife at an apartment on Franklyn Road.

Antoine is in custody, and the plea was entered via video, Dec. 8.

Sentencing on charges of assault with a weapon, resisting arrest, domestic assault and assault causing bodily harm takes place Jan. 12.
