UPDATE: Kelowna ‘workplace incident’ on Highway 97 under criminal investigation

WorkSafe BC is also on scene and there is no danger to the public

Update 10 a.m.

There is a criminal investigation ongoing from the workplace incident, according to the Kelowna RCMP.

Update: 8:38 a.m.

RCMP have left the scene of what they called a workplace incident along Highway 97 near Richter Street.

It happened just after 8 a.m. and closed the northbound HOV lane. The lane has since been reopened.

WorkSafe BC also responded to the incident.

Kelowna RCMP is on scene of what is being described as a workplace incident at Highway 97 between Richter and Ethel streets.

Traffic is moving but motorists can expect slowdowns in the northbound HOV lane. Police do anticipate the matter to be cleared up by approximately 9 a.m.

WorkSafe BC is also on scene and there is no danger to the public. Police are asking motorists to slow down in that area and watch for stopped vehicles.
