Peachland council has some high-priority issues it wants to discuss with provincial ministers.
At the top of the list of five items is a meeting with the municipal affairs ministry to discuss sewer funding.
“We’ve been turned down for sewer grants three times in a row,” noted Coun. David Collins. “What do we have to do to get some sewer grant funding, which is one of the priorities for our residents?”
Also on the list is a meeting with the ministry of transportation and infrastructure.
“We need to continue pressing Highway 97 upgrades, the traffic lights at Trepanier, the protected ’T’ or whatever you’re going to call it at Renfrew, and the speed limit changes we were promised,” said Coun. Terry Condon.
Mayor Patrick Van Minsel did meet with minister Rob Fleming two months ago, and provincial staff have recommended a solution for the Renfrew intersection at Highway 97.
Council also wants to meet with representatives from the forests, childcare and economic development ministries.
The meetings would take place at the Union of BC Municipalities convention in Vancouver this September.
Council must submit its requests by June 30.
