Pushor Mitchell is celebrating its 50th anniversary and is continuing to support charities by donating $10,000 to Foundry Kelowna.

Foundry Kelowna, a mental health clinic operated by the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA), will be using the donations to support the hiring of a new outreach counsellor.

This will help to provide counselling services on an outreach basis to help marginalized youth in the community. The mental health clinic supports young people aged 12 to 24 in their community.

The outreach counsellor’s position is important to providing non-judgmental and supportive counselling for youth.

“It is crucial that we make an impact with our donations, and the Foundry provides services to youth who are marginalized by homelessness, racism, sexual statuses such as LGTBQ2S+, poverty and other factors,” said Joni Metherell, managing partner at Pushor Mitchell.

Donating to Foundry Kelowna was an important decision, according to the law firm.

“We chose Foundry Kelowna because of the range of integrated services they provide to youth. This helps young people, along with their families to find hope, help and support,” Metherell said.

Metherell also said that it is important to prioritize the well-being of young people in the Kelowna Community.

“By supporting organizations like Foundry Kelowna, it makes a positive impact on their lives and ultimately shapes their future in a positive direction.”

This new role will help to support many other CMHA Kelowna programs, including Foundry Kelowna’s Wellness on Wheels services, Bright Mindz and McCurdy Place.

The Kelowna-based law firm is very familiar with its community-minded approaches towards donations, as not too long ago they donated $25,000 to help fund a chemotherapy chair.
