Update: Nov. 27, 9:20 a.m.

Two pilot of a missing plane has now been identified as Dominic Neron, 28, who left with his girlfriend on a single-engine Mooney airplane at 2:30 p.m. from Penticton.

Update: Nov. 27, 9:20 a.m.—The search for the missing plane is continuing today in an area 25 nautical miles north-east of Revelstoke and extending as far as Rogers Pass.

According to the Victoria Joint Rescue Co-ordination Centre the Cormorant helicopter, dispatched from CFB Comox on Vancouver Island to assist in the search yesterday, flying out of the Kelowna airport, is participating again today, along with the two Parks Canada helicopters, said VJRCC spokeswoman Katelyn Moores.

Moores said no signal from the missing plane has been received since the ping from the pilot’s cell phone off a cell tower in search area was received Sunday night.

Original story—Crews are searching for an aircraft that took off Saturday afternoon in Penticton and failed to arrive at its destination in Edmonton.

According to the Joint Rescue Co-Ordination Centre Victoria, two people were aboard the aircraft when it departed from Penticton Regional Airport at around 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Rescue crews were alerted last night at 10:40 p.m. that a ping from the pilot’s cell phone was picked up about 20 kilomteres northeast of Revelstoke.

The search for the single-engine Mooney aircraft was being conducted in the Revelstoke area and into Rogers Pass.

A Hercules aircraft conducted an electronic search Saturday night and found nothing. All airports in the area have been checked with no sign of the plane.

Two Parks Canada helicopters and one chartered helicopter from Arrow Helicopters are currently involved in the search.

Low cloud in the area later in the day on Sunday has prevented a Cormorant helicopter, a Buffalo aircraft and three planes from CASAR in Kamloops from continuing their search.

There is no further information currently available on the identity of the people in plane.
