There’s a new head at the South Okanagan Similkameen Medical Foundation.
Ian Lindsay, the former director of development at the University of Northern British Columbia, has been named the CEO of the foundation, which raises funds for the Penticton Regional Hospital and 15 other healthcare facilities in the region.
He will begin his new role on Nov. 1.
“My family and I were very fortunate to live in Penticton for two months last year and are thrilled that we now have an opportunity to return to Penticton and integrate into the warm and welcoming South Okanagan community,” he said.
Lindsay has also previously worked in the private sector as a branch manager at TD Bank in Prince George and currently serves as vice president of Method Dance Society, a non-profit organization that seeks to raise awareness and garner interest in contemporary dance in northern B.C.
“I am excited to join the South Okanagan Similkameen Medical Foundation and looking forward to working with the board, the staff, and the volunteers to complete the mission of enhancing the medical infrastructure to elevate the patient experience,” he said.
Lindsay was one of 36 people interested in the position, according to the foundation’s board.
“Ian was our number one candidate and we’re lucky to have attracted him to the Okanagan,” said Peter Steele, chair of the board. “We’re looking forward to his arrival this November in time to be part of our first gala event on Nov.25, to support our $10 million oncology campaign.
