Kelowna is about to get a new soundstage.

Jon Summerland, Okanagan Film Commissioner, is pleased to announce that Eagle Creek Studio, based in Burnaby, has launched a soundstage facility.

Eagle Creek Studio purchased the property in 2016 with plans to open in 2017.

Eagle Creek Studio, the parent company in Burnaby, is currently in full production with the Amazon TV Series, The Man from High Castle, which is in its third season (30 episodes) and has won five major awards in 2016 including two Primetime Emmys.

“This is size and caliber of productions we will be able to bring to Kelowna and the Okanagan with this studio complex,” said Summerland.

“This kind of facility will create the infrastructure we need here to bring in the big productions and TV series an base them here.  It will create full time employment for many people and will also create new businesses like prop shops, hair and make-up departments, for example. I have been working on this from the beginning and am so pleased that we are so close to this kind of expansion of the production industry here in the Okanagan.”

Last year, Vernon obtained a new film studio, called the Okanagan Film Studio.
