Suspicious person draws large Vernon police presence

Westside Road investigation concludes with no arrests

Reports of a suspicious person drew a large police presence to Westside Road Tuesday afteroon.

Vernon North Okanagan RCMP began investigating the report around 12:30 p.m. May 28.

Further into the afternoon, one witness reported seeing six undercover pickup trucks and officers with weapons drawn blocking traffic on Vernon’s Highway 97 near Westside.

“As the investigation progressed, police determined there may be an elevated risk and members of the RCMP’s Southeast District Emergency Response Team responded to the area to assist frontline officers with locating the person,” said Const. Chris Terleski, media relations officer.

“No arrests were made and the investigation has been concluded.”
