Tennis anyone? Most city courts still open

Courts at Parkinson Rec are closed for the winter, but other city courts remain open.
Tennis Racket and Ball on Court

The Basil Meikle tennis courts, in the Parkinson Recreation Park near the Apple Bowl Stadium, are closed for the winter, reopening March 1 weather permitting.

As the city’s premier courts, the Basil Meikle courts are being closed to protect the playing surface.

Hardy tennis players can take advantage of one of the city’s other public tennis courts located in 12 neighbourhood parks. The two lighted courts are located at City Park, 1600 Abbott St., and Jack Robertson Park, 1655 Willow Crescent.

However, players are advised the surfaces are not regularly maintained during the winter and to exercise caution if there is debris, snow or ice on the playing surface.
