December 19, 1944 - February 14, 2020
It is with the greatest of sadness that we announce the passing our beloved friend Ans Hakman (Anna). She passed away peacefully after a long battle with ALS that eventually overcame her on Valentines Day. Special thanks to the caring staff at DL Jones in Kelowna BC. who looked after and cared for her in recent months. She was surrounded by an outpouring of love from all her close friends and family and will be tremendously missed by all.
Ans was born in Holland on December 19, 1944. She moved to Canada in 1988 and ended up living and working in Okanagan. She retired in 2005 and spent her retirement years travelling with the Zorn Family and enjoying her time with her friends and animals. Later in her retirement she discovered a love of horses and spent her recent years with her beloved horse Precious at the Chevallier Family Ranch.
Ans is survived by her niece Esther, brother Wim Hakman and beloved friends Laura, Diana, Pat, Ella, Christina, Carolynn and many others whom she considered family.
In lieu of flowers a donation can be made in Ans memory to the ALS Society of Canada.
As per Ans request we will not be holding a service for her but we will be having a gathering at a later date. Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting www.firstmemorialfuneralkelowna.com. Arrangements entrusted with First Memorial Funeral Services, Kelowna. 250-762-2299
