On March 1st we said goodbye to a true outdoors man; Robert George Herring of Kelowna. Robert left us on his own terms peacefully at the age of 74 after battling COPD for many years.
Robert was born and raised in Alberta and moved to Kelowna where he finished his schooling to become a plumber/pipefitter. Robert had a successful career for 40 years which allowed him to see and enjoy many parts of our province/country and developed life long friendships throughout his career.
He is predeceased by his wife Jeanette Gruber. He is survived by son Bob Jr (Kat), Daughter Lindzee (Dan), grandson Sean, granddaughter Brielle, step daughter Tammy (Jim) and granddaughter Brittany. He will be missed by his family, his siblings (Jaqueline, Brenda, Don, Diane, Fred and Gladys), and many long time friends.
Robert was an avid outdoorsman, hunter and fisherman who was happiest enjoying the outdoors with friends and family and we take comfort that he is now at peace.
At the request of Robert, no service will be held. However, next time you're in the outdoors, take a moment to remember him with a nice cold beer as that is what he enjoyed doing the most.
In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the Central Okanagan Hospice Association who supported him greatly these past few years.
