In loving memory ~
On Sunday, June 25, 2023, Bob passed away peacefully at home in the company of his wife, Josie, after a courageous fight with cancer. Bob was born in Kelowna, B.C., to one of the founding families, growing up on the Hazeldell Orchards. After high school, he joined the RCAF (Royal Canadian Air Force), where he met his first wife, Ella Kurta. They married in 1965, left the service in 1968 and moved to Vancouver, B.C., where they had 3 children before moving to Scarborough, ON, in 1974. Bob used his RCAF training to enter the field of computers and travelled around the world installing systems. After 25 years, Bob left computers and turned his woodworking hobby into a career repairing and refinishing furniture. Following the death of Ella from cancer in 2019, Bob reconnected with his high school sweetheart Josie, and in September 2020 they married and moved back to Kelowna and the Hazeldell. The last years were spent renovating the old farmhouse, gardening, reconnecting with family and reliving old times. Shortly after his 80th birthday, Bob was diagnosed with an aggressive cancer. His determination turned a 3-month prognosis into 5 months and let him see his garden bloom. Bob was predeceased by his first wife Ella; his parents George and Ella; brother Don; and sister Sharron. He is dearly missed by all his family and is survived by his wife Josie; children Chris, Greg, and Suzan; stepchildren Angie and Jeff; baby brother Allen; dear sister-in-law Wendy and sister-in-law Diane (Don) Reid; and many nieces and nephews. We have lost a husband, father, brother, uncle, and dear friend. You fought the good fight, Bob, rest well.
