Coldstream’s Anne Cherkowski will get an up-close-and-personal look at the Canada-vs-U.S. rivalry in women’s hockey.
The Coldstream player has been named to the Team Canada roster that will compete in the continuation of the 2023-24 Rivalry Series between the two nations.
Cherkowski will make her Team Canada national women’s team debut when the series resumes Dec. 14 in Kitchener, Ont., and Dec. 16. in Sarnia, Ont.
The teams will travel west in February, with the final three games of the series being played in Saskatoon on Feb. 7, Regina on Feb. 9 and St. Paul, Minnesota, on Feb. 11.
The Americans won the opening two games of the series south of the border earlier in November.
Cherkowski is a senior playing in the NCAA with the Clarkson Golden Knights of Potsdam, NY. She’s helped the Golden Knights to an undefeated season thus far, going 16-0-2. Cherkowski has nine goals and eight assists for 17 points, and has played every game.
She led Golden in scoring in 2022-23 with 23 goals and was named to the Eastern College Athletic Conference’s All Academic team.
Cherkowski was a member of Canada’s National Women’s Under-18 Team, earning silver with Canada’s National Women’s Under-18 Team at the 2020 IIHF Under-18 Women’s World Championship in Bratislava, Slovakia. She won gold with Canada’s National Women’s Under-18 Team at the 2019 IIHF Under-18 Women’s World Championship in Obihiro, Japan.
Canada’s roster for the resumption of the Rivalry Series features 17 players who suited up for the two losses in Tempe, Ariz. and Los Angeles. Cherkowski is among three players making their first appearance with the national team.

This year’s Rivalry Series marks the fifth year the cross-border rivals will face-off in cities across Canada and the United States. Canada’s National Women’s Team dropped the opening two games of the 2023-24 series earlier this month, giving Canada an 11-12 record in 23 games since the inception of the Rivalry Series in 2018-19.
