Tomas Soustal and the Kelowna Rockets fell to the Silvertips Monday afternoon in Everett.

Penalties were the Kelowna Rockets‘ undoing in a 5-4 loss to the hometown Everett Silvertips Monday afternoon in WHL action.

The U.S. Division- leading Silvertips scored three times on seven power play opportunities, ending the Rockets three-game winning streak.

Riley Sutter’s power play goal late in the second period to make it 5-3 stood up as the game winner.

Connor Bruggen-Cate’s third goal of the season at 13:26 pulled the Rockets (26-16-3-0) to within one, but the Silvertips hung on for their 28th win of the season.

Calvin Thurkauf, Lucas Johansen and Jack Cowell also scored for the Rockets, while Reid Gardiner added two assists.

Michael Herringer started in net for the Rockets and after giving up four goals on 11 shots, was replaced by Brodan Salmond in the second period.

Kelowna returns to action Wednesday when they host the Moose Jaw Warriors. Face off at Prospera Place is 7 p.m.
