KF Aerospace has been chosen to provide maintenance support for a new fleet of multi-mission aircrafts being delivered to the Royal Canadian Air Force.

The federal government announced on Nov. 30 that it had selected the Boeing P-8A aircraft.

“KF Aerospace’s growing relationship with the Boeing Company has led to more high-quality jobs at our company and increased economic benefits around our operations in British Columbia and Ontario,” said Tracy Medve, president and CEO of the Kelowna-based company.

The P-8 program will generate and support nearly 3,000 jobs and add $358 million to Canada’s economy, every year for the next 10 years.

The company anticipates increased hiring of skilled trades positions to accommodate the program at its facilities at Kelowna International Airport (YLW).

KF Aerospace was recently named a Global Supplier of the Year for its work on Boeing civilian programs and will be collaborating with Boeing Defense, Space and Security on another program critical to supporting the Canadian Armed Forces.

The P-8A will replace Canada’s current maritime patrol aircraft, the CP-140 Aurora, which has been in service for more than 40 years.

The estimated investment for the project is $10.4 billion and includes up to $8 billion for associated equipment, training devices and sustainment set-up.
